Carrie Lew, EdD, MSW

Associate Dean/Director, DSW Program

Dr. Lew has spent her tenure of 23+ years in leadership positions at the USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work.  This varied experience has led her to her current Her role as the Associate Dean/Director of the new DSW Program. She previously developed programs in professional development, continuing education, career development, alumni relations, international (Global MSW), Admissions and Financial Aid. She was instrumental in creating the Employment Development program; developing “non-traditional” social work internship and job opportunities for students and graduates, specifically in the areas of finance, insurance and managed care. 

Dr. Lew is also a founding faculty advisor for the Asian Pacific Islander Caucus, which created an endowed lectureship and other scholarships for MSW students. Previous to her USC experience, Dr. Lew was a counselor and account management consultant for the largest employee assistance/managed care firm in the country. She also worked for the Department of Children and Family Services-Adoptions Division with foster parents, prospective adoptive parents and children who were wards of the court.

In the area of consultation, she has provided consultation on diversity at a major Los Angeles Medical Center and for a school of social work in a prominent east coast university in the admissions arena.  

In addition, as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, she has a private practice consulting on independent adoptions and is active in the Asian Pacific American community.  She received her Bachelor’s degree from California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo, Master of Social Work and a doctorate in higher education leadership from USC.  Dr. Lew’s doctoral program dissertation was on career choice in social work for Asian Pacific Americans.
