Program Tracks

No matter which department you choose, you can enrich your Master of Social Work online education with an optional program track that prepares you to help the populations you care about most. You may choose up to one program track from those offered within your department.

Military Social Work Track

Offered within all three departments, this track gives you a strong understanding of military culture so you can meet the unique needs of active military members, veterans and their families. You will learn to provide mental health therapy, crisis intervention, counseling and other services in a variety of professional social work settings that serve military clients.

School Social Work Track

This track is offered within the Department of Children, Youth and Families, currently to California residents only. You will learn how to help pre-K–12 students overcome challenges outside the classroom that are affecting their ability to thrive at school. The track also fulfills many of the classroom and field education requirements for the Pupil Personnel Services Credential, which is needed to practice school social work in California.
