No matter which department you choose, you can enrich your Master of Social Work online education with an optional program track that prepares you to help the populations you care about most. You may choose up to one program track from those offered within your department.
Military Social Work Track
Offered within all three departments, this track gives you a strong understanding of military culture so you can meet the unique needs of active military members, veterans and their families. You will learn to provide mental health therapy, crisis intervention, counseling and other services in a variety of professional social work settings that serve military clients.
This track is offered within the Department of Children, Youth and Families. You will learn how to help pre-K–12 students overcome challenges outside the classroom that are affecting their ability to thrive at school. The track also fulfills many of the classroom and field education requirements for the Pupil Personnel Services Credential, which is needed to practice school social work in California.
*For students interested in the School Social Work track or pursuing PPSC, your schedule may be modified to ensure a positive field placement experience and that you meet all necessary requirements for the credential. This means that if your first term of field placement for traditional students or any field placement for advanced standing students falls over the summer term, you will need to take a modified schedule which will likely delay your graduation date. For specific questions, reach out to an admissions counselor at 877-700-4679 or email@example.com.
